What is a clinical study?

Clinical studies are designed to test and study the safety and effectiveness of products.

What are my rights as a study panelist?

As a research panelist you have the right to ask questions and have them answered promptly. You may discontinue from the study at any time, but please give careful consideration to your commitment to us and our commitment to you before you enroll.

What kinds of products are tested?

Burt’s Bees has a wide variety of products for face, body, lips and hair. Our chemists are hard at work formulating new products every day. Once a final formula is approved, it has to be tested before it enters the market. We will inform you of the product you will be testing when you sign up for the study.

What is the duration of a typical study?

A typical study ranges anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. We also have several short term studies which last 4-8 hours. The length of the study is dictated by the nature of the product and the claims being made about that product.

How many visits do I have to make to the testing facility?

There will be at least 1; possibly several study visits where the panelist is required to come to our testing facility. We will provide you with study specific details before you sign up.

How long are the study visits?

Study visits range from 30-60 minutes. We will notify you of the estimated time and schedule when you sign up for a study.

Will the measurements hurt my skin or me?

All bioinstruments used for skin measurements are non-invasive. These will not hurt your skin or you in any way.

Do I get compensated for study participation?

Yes, your participation is valuable to us. You will be compensated for your time and travel.
